Cooperative Sagebrush Initiative receives major grant




The Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS) announced approval of a $2 million project by the Cooperative Sagebrush Initiative (CSI) to develop a market-based approach for restoring rangelands and critical wildlife habitat in the sagebrush region of the western U.S.  Initial funding for CSI was provided by Sand County Foundation’s Bradley Fund for the Environment. The Foundation has been the leader of this partnership since 2006 by securing funds, hosting meetings and sponsoring research.

SCF analyzes the Baraboo and Wisconsin Rivers amid recent flooding

The photographs within this series were taken over the floodplains of the Baraboo River and Wisconsin Rivers mid-day on Friday, 13 June 2008.  Some of them illustrate negative consequences to people and economically essential infrastructure, such as interstate highways, when a floodway is overwhelmed with heavy, persistent rains.
